A little "balance" for the fireplace....

One of the reasons I chose the word "Balance" to be the name for my business is because I always tend to flock to symmetry and having decor pieces flow the right way.

When it came time to place these pieces on our mantel and by the fireplace I had to play with some pieces to get that perfect "balance" I was shooting for. One of my absolute favorite home decor items are lanterns. I have several lanterns around our home in different places. (I'll be doing a post on decorating above your kitchen cabinets soon and you will see what I mean ;) ).

The little bench on my mantel is also a favorite of mine (a trusty Hobby Lobby find) and I could never find just the right spot for it. I had it sitting on the floor by the media center, then I moved it in front of the fireplace and it hit me- put it ON the mantel! I think the flow of my mantel worked out great. What do you think?
