A few DIY items

I thought I would take a minute and show you guys a few items I've made in the past few weeks and share my secrets on how easy they are to make.
The first item is this window panel shelf. Its just a simple as it sounds. I look an old window that I had a I painted it a bit. Next I took a piece of wide pallet board and nailed it to the top of the window. You have to be careful when doing the hammering so you don't hit a spot that will harm the glass. I had already stained the piece of wood and I actually liked the color differences with these pieces. Then I added some hanging hooks to the back of the window and done! I added the wreath, sign and candles and I liked the way it turned out.
My next project...... shelves! We needed some shelves in the master bathroom so I went to my trusty pallet wood pile again and found these two pieces.
I stared at the pieces of wood for a day or so trying to decide on the easiest and best way to attach them until I decided a simple "L" hook would work. So off to Lowes I went and found my hooks. I needed 4 of them, two for each shelf.
The "L" hooks came with some screws which were just the right length as I needed screws that wouldn't come through the wood. I simply attacked them to the pallet wood then to the wall. When doing this try to make sure you keep the "L" hooks far enough apart to hold the weight evenly. (My hooks are right where the two green florals are on the bottom shelf, to give you an idea). I also wasn't worried about the hooks being silver because I knew I was going to hide them with decorations. Oh, I did have to cut the pallet pieces just a bit to fit my space.
What do you guys think of these two projects? Simple? Give them a try and let me know how you do!
