One mans junk.....

The old saying "One mans junk is another mans treasure" couldn't be any more perfect for me these days. I am always watching for items on the curb and good deals at yard sales or on the popular Facebook Marketplace!

If a piece is even a little broken or chipped, I love it even more. When I see a piece I don't always have a plan for it and it may sit in the garage for a few days or even weeks until I start working on it.

Since we are on the subject of pallet wood I thought I'd share this piece I did with you guys. So this old coffee table was on the curb in our old neighborhood and I immediately scooped it up. I initially thought it would be cute to take the tiles out and put little baskets or build a little cubby in those spots thinking you could put TV remotes or magazines in there. Well, while working on getting those tiles out I realized that was not going to work out. The tiles did not want to come out and they broken in a million pieces making it very hard to get underneath them to make the cutouts. Ah well, on to plan B.

I decided to take the entire top off. What I like most about these projects is I have ZERO invested in them so if they don't turn out great or if they break I can just do what the original owner intended and toss them to the curb. Once I had the top removed the idea came pouring in! Take more pallet wood and make a NEW top. DUH SARAH. So thats what I did. I took a few pieces and I didn't even plan to make the pieces fade the way they do in color. I decided to paint the bottom white and added my favorite stencil to it with my new favorite metallic paint! It matched my daughters room very well as I had done her dresser with the same stencil so the coffee table was now a bench!

Next time you see a piece tossed to the curb, give it a try, or send it to me! :) What do you think of the finished product on this one?
