When life gives you, oranges?!?

I belive I mentioned this once already but when I started my blog I started it with the intention of sticking to design topics. I know I mentioned that I would likely bounce around a bit so here I go, bouncing.
So what do you all do when you are in a bit of a rut so to speak. Sometimes I get stuck in life or in my everyday cycles of doing my 24/7 mom duties and I just get bored a bit and need an outlet (another reason the blog was born). I have always loved writing and wanted to explore this side of me.
We all know that saying, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade" or my all time favorite from my favorite movie ever, "When life gives you lemons, say F*&# the lemons and bail"- Forgetting Sarah Marshall. (Sorry for the language there). But what happens when life gives you oranges? When you are expecting a certain outcome in life and something totally different happens? What do you do then.... how do you adapt? Being the person I am and being programed to stick to routine I personally don't do well with change.
I also tend to be really hard on myself and I am my own worst critic. I tend to compare myself to others too often and I worry more about what others are doing in life and I try to "keep up with the Jones". I recently told myself that I would stay off social media as much as I can and try to focus on whats happening around me. Watching snapchat and Facebook stories gets so old and just realizing that people put on a show makes you realize no one is perfect. I know this is a big topic now a days and in this time in our society but sometimes it takes seeing people in their true light to realize it.
My hope is that people will get back to a slower time and learn to appreciate the small things in life again. People are so busy and get so caught up in their everyday that we miss out on special moments. Sorry to get deep with you guys this evening, just thought I'd ask you guys how you deal. How do you handle life's curve balls?
