Making a mess-

When I find a piece of furniture that I am going to give new life to, most of the time paint will be what I'll use for the project but for the frames I've been working on and will be until the end of times it seems.....I am using stain. Stain is a great choice for many projects especially when it comes to pallet wood.
Minwax Wood Finish is my go to stain. I love the product and I have my all time favorite color which is called Provincial. Today I used another go to color but also two new ones. I had to run out to Lowes today and noticed they had some new color choices. So I picked up Honey and Pupitan Pine. The Pine may be my new favorite!

When I get to work on my projects with stain I normally use a staining pad but today I used my paint brush. I built about 20 frames today so I was in a bit of a time crunch trying to get them all stained today so I can get them completed.
My set up or work station as my kiddos call it is a bit of a mess. I have this old wooden patio table that has been designated my painting table. Then I have my little side table to place finished frames on and my kids poor picnic table gets used a bit as well for any overflow if my stack gets a little too high. My white bucket holds any wood pieces that need to be put together or any left over pieces. Look at that poor table....what a mess! I tend to get a lot of stain on things as I can be a messy painter at times.

What I do with these is I mix the colors a bit and I'll throw a little bit of each color on each frame to kinda make my own color and blend. The photo below show you a little of what I mean. If you can see the frames have spots of darker and lighter colors. Thats where I just randomly use the stain colors. I love doing this. I think it makes the frames stand out a bit and makes them a little more unique.

This one below turned out to be my favorite. I love the way the stain soaked in and you can see the saw marks on the wood as well as all the lines from the tree. I may have to keep this one for myself....

So what do you think of my mess? Like this idea or would you prefer them to be all one color? Thanks for turning in this evening. If I haven't thanked you all lately, I'd like to do that now. Thanks for reading and thanks for caring about what I have to say, it really means a lot.
