A table makeover- a how to guide

I thought I'd take a few minutes before the season premier of an all new Grey's Anatomy to share with you all my project from today. I had purchased a round dining table to redo a few weeks back and I finished it up and added it to my booth today. Here is the before photo of the table-
The table was in pretty good shape but had a few spots on the top that needed to be touched up. I always use my hand sander to remove the finish on tables like these because I like to restain the top. I used a chalk paint to paint the base of the table a creamy white color. I like the chalk paint called Dixie Bell from a local marketplace a few stores down from the store where my booth is. Its priced well and love the color selections.
So after using my power sander and painting the base white, I used my Minwax stain to restain the top. After letting the stain dry I will use a sanding block to make sure the table top is smooth and then will wipe the top off getting all the dust off and will then use my poly to seal the top. To me its very important to make sure the top is very smooth. I personally do not like rough surfaces and prefer it to be smooth to the touch. Wiping down the top is important also because you don't want any dust left on the top when putting on the poly. The clear coat can cause some imperfections if the dust isn't removed.

I also found a pair of chairs that I picked up and had them in mind for my table project. I actually used a Valspar spray paint for the chairs and I loved the color which is a bluish grey. To prep the chairs for painting I typically just use a rag to make sure they are cleaned up. I will just use water and don't use any cleaner on them just to be sure the paint will take correctly. I will watch for any spots that may need sanding but these were in good shape. I will also make sure all the screws are tight and that the chairs are nice and sturdy. After painting the chairs I decided I didn't like the chairs and table together so I am saving them for a future table which I will match with the table.

Here are the chairs with the finished table. What do you think of the chairs with the table? Would love some of your opinions. I managed to get the table to my booth today as well with the help of my 10 year old niece. It fit just perfectly in my Durango and with the extra hand we loaded it up and got it delivered.

Thanks for reading today! Hope my first read tutorial helped. I'll be sure to do better about taking photos of the process for the next one. Any questions about the project feel free to reach out to me.
